Do you have to unlock all tier 1 weapons in Battlefield 2 before you can unlock any tier 2 weapons?

I only have a few weapons in the first tier of battlefield 2, but I want to unlock some of the new weapons. Do I first have to unlock all tier 1 weapons?Do you have to unlock all tier 1 weapons in Battlefield 2 before you can unlock any tier 2 weapons?
You just need to have unlocked the tier 1 weapon for the class you want to unlock the tier 2 weapon for, bt you need to play a map of the Special Forces expansion pack before you can unlock any tier 2 weapons. You can play on someone elses computer with your account if you don't have Special Forces and you know someone that does.
